The Cadillac LYRIQ

The electrification of the Cadillac brand is coming closer with each day. Cadillac is to be the flagship electric brand for General Motor (GM) and the first Electric Vehicle (EV) that will be offered: the LYRIQ.

The Spark

First introduced in the summer of 2020 during a virtual presentation, the LYRIQ will be built on GM’s new Ultium battery platform. The estimated full charge range of this new luxury SUV is 482 KM; that’s enough range to go from Heuvelmans Chev to Tobermory, or over halfway to Montreal. Another way to look at it: the LYRIQ could go from Toronto City Hall to Parliament Hill in Ottawa without stopping with about 80 KM of range to spare.

Sound like a long drive? No need to worry, just activate Super Cruise. The Super Cruise feature offers the first truly hands-free driver-assistance feature on compatible highways, allowing the driver to enjoy the simplicity of the journey, just like the passengers do.

A Sporty New Drive

The new Ultimium battery platform provides the vehicle a near 50/50 weight distribution and a low centre of gravity giving the LYRIQ a sporty, responsive feel. The battery platform will also provide near instantaneous torque really driving home that sporty feel. The LYRIQ will have options for a rear-wheel-drive as well as an all-wheel-drive version.

In terms of features and technology on board, the SUV will feature a 33” LED display that spans from driver to passenger and a 19-speaker sounds system from AKG. From pictures of in the interior it appears that the second-row seating will feature adjustable bucket seats, dual climate zones, and infotainment screens on the back of the front seats. Aside from pictures, not much information has been released in terms of standard equipment and options, but it is clear that this vehicle will be both a combination of art and technology giving drivers and passengers alike an unparalleled experience.

Recently, Cadillac has started to ramp up its advertising efforts for their EVs featuring the LYRIQ in the “No Way Norway” ad, as well as in its own ad, “Scissor Hands Free”. You can check out these ads below.
